I woke with a slight jolt and unfurled my foot out from underneath me. I was groggy, bleary-eyed, and just wanted to go back to sleep. Skids chuckled lightly and before I knew what was happening, I was airborne. I put my arms around my neck and held myself up, taking some of my weight off his arms.

“You alright?” he asked softly.

“Mm, sleepy,” I murmured back.

He chuckled, and it was deep and rich like dark chocolate. I let him carry me across the threshold into his bedroom and was almost sad when he put me down on the edge of the bed, his warmth retreating as he leaned back and knelt on the floor at my feet.

“What are you doing?” I asked softly.

“Getting you ready for bed,” he replied simply.

And he did just that, stripping me out of my clothes with a gentle yet firm sensuality, fingertips grazing my skin in all the right places to make me catch my breath, causing my blood to pulse through my veins with a wicked desire.

If only I weren’t so tired.

“Kiss me,” I begged, my voice tremulous, always low-key afraid he would say no. He didn’t, though. Just knelt up, putting his hands on my knees and placing his lips against mine in a butterfly kiss, deepening things slowly until we kissed one another ravenously.

He was, of course, the first to back off, saying, “Let’s get you naked and to bed, I’ll be in after I clean up and we’ll be all set for morning sex if you’d like… I just really want you to get some good sleep. You been burning the candle at both ends and it’s starting to show, lover.”

I couldn’t disagree, even though I wanted to, so I didn’t. I just let him take care of me, slipping me out of my clothes until I was as naked as the day I was born, tucking me between the cool, crisp sheets of his wonderful bed which quickly warmed with my body’s own heat. Of course, I think that was partially thanks to how hot and bothered he made me. From his touches to his glances to the way he kissed me, I almost wondered how I would ever fall asleep, now.

“Get some rest, I’ll be back in a flash,” he murmured and gave me one last lingering kiss. I settled in and closed my eyes and I guess I needn’t have worried. I was out cold in the span of two seconds.
